I graduated from the Department of Mining Engineering at Hacettepe University and completed my Master’s Degree in Mining Engineering at the same institution. Subsequently, I earned additional degrees in Workforce and Human Resources Management (2020) and Public Relations and Communication (2022) from Anadolu University. I also hold Class A Occupational Health and Safety Specialist certification, as well as internationally recognized IOSH (2021) and NEBOSH (2022) Occupational Health and Safety certifications.
With more than 20 years of experience in the gold mining industry, I have been actively involved in all stages of mining operations, from exploration to production. During TÜMAD Mining’s corporate transformation process, I led the establishment and implementation of the company’s Integrated Management System, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, ISO 39001, and ISO 27001 standards. In parallel, I developed and implemented the Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS) across the organization.
I successfully managed the environmental and social aspects of two major project finance transactions totaling USD 210 million and USD 255 million, ensuring full compliance with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Performance Requirements. These efforts resulted in the successful completion of the financing processes. Currently, I am leading the environmental and social management processes of a bridge financing facility involving four international lending institutions.
In accordance with the requirements of the International Cyanide Management Code administered by the International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) under the United Nations Environment Programme framework, I led both mining operations to achieve certification with zero non-conformities. Furthermore, I successfully completed the implementation of the SA8000 Social Accountability Management System, one of the world’s most prestigious certification programs focused on ensuring fair, safe, and ethical working conditions for employees.
As the process owner of TÜMAD’s “Zero Accident” journey, I continue to lead the implementation of critical initiatives aimed at strengthening occupational health and safety performance and fostering a proactive safety culture.
In support of the company’s “Net Zero Carbon” objectives, I successfully completed the development processes of a 50 MW wind power project designed for self-consumption at mining sites. The project aims to reduce external energy dependency while significantly lowering Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions.
I am also responsible for the preparation of sustainability reports in alignment with the United Nations Global Compact principles. My work includes managing social license requirements, occupational and community health and safety programs, social impact assessments, livelihood restoration initiatives, and community development projects.
Through the successful implementation of these initiatives, I played a leading role in securing the EBRD Sustainability Award 2024 – Natural Resources Category, recognizing TÜMAD’s outstanding achievements in sustainable mining and responsible business practices.
