With over 30 years of senior management experience spanning project management, mining, trading, and the minerals industry, Mohamad Chafic is a seasoned executive and industry leader. He currently serves as CEO, President, and Board Member of Kazax Minerals Inc. (TSX-V: KMI), a publicly listed company in Canada, and as Managing Director of Kazco Beteiligungs GmbH (Austria), Lomonosovskoye LLLP, and Eurasian Minerals & Mining LLP (Kazakhstan).
As Head of Development and Mining for the Lomonosovskoye Iron Ore Deposit in Northern Kazakhstan, he oversees a JORC-compliant reserve of 507 million tons of ROM. The operation is set to produce 74 million metric tons of high-grade Fe 67% direct reduction (DR) pellet feed, supporting green steel production via electric arc furnaces. The project is projected to generate revenues of USD 8–10 billion over a 20-year life, with a net present value (NPV) of USD 1.2 billion and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 30%.
Mr. Chafic leads strategic negotiations with major global steel producers, trading houses, and contractors, securing multi-billion-dollar offtake agreements and EPCM contracts. He also plays a key role in arranging project financing with leading export credit agencies (ECAs), as well as major commercial and development banks worldwide.
He is a founding member and former Managing Director of Maxsteel Industry LLC, a multi-million-dollar steel manufacturing and fabrication company operating in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, where he served until 2018. Earlier in his career, he was the Managing Director of DanaSteel, a UAE-based general trading company, until 2006.
In addition to his industrial leadership, Mr. Chafic has notable experience in the education sector, having served as Head of the IT Department and Education Program Manager at Emirates Aviation University, the academic arm of Emirates Airline in the UAE.
He is an active speaker at leading international industry events, including The Mining Show (Dubai, 2024 & 2025), Mining Critical Minerals Middle East (Dubai, 2025), SIFo (Singapore, 2025), and Central Asia Mining Forum (Tashkent, 2025).
